I have a 14 X 40 wood shop and was looking for something to heat/cool it that wouldn't cost a lot of money and also not run my electric bill through the roof. I think this unit is the answer. It was simple to install with no labor costs and it runs quiet and efficient. It keeps the shop comfortable with low humidity great for cast iron tables. The heater was ordered on a Friday and I could have gotten it on Wed but I could not have anybody here to receive it till Friday. It arrived on Friday morning just as I finished taking out the old furnace. I had it up and running by Monday, I tried to get the new one as close as possible as the old one in output and so I only got the single stage. After waiting 26 days to get my Effinity 93 110000 btu unit, I installed it only to find out the propeller fan was very noisy. It is louder than my air compressor. Modine will not honor the warranty unless you use a professional installer. If you are a do it yourselfer, don't buy this unit. The propeller motor is cheap and creates a lot of vibration noise. Even if the motor was replaced under warranty, it would still be the same noisy motor. If you want to be able to talk in the vicinity... more

I live in central California with evaporative cooling. I'm using this fan to vent out the hot air. The QuietCool replaced a simple department store unit and the difference is amazing. With much higher air flow, the whole house stays cooler. It's not a quiet fan, but it's 10 times quieter than any other fan with anywhere near the same air flow. I only wish I had found out about this unit years ago!
