I have one of these and am a bit disappointed when it's efficiency drastically decreases when the outside temperature drops below -10C or + 24F. Still I am very pleased with it. Now the inside unit 'chirps', what is up with that ? Does it need to be oiled ? Doug

While I haven't yet installed the fan, I did unbox it and plug it in. I'm no acoustic engineer, but I could barely hear it operate and that was at the motor end. I'm not sure what 45 dB sounds like or maybe I'm hard of hearing - my wife tells me I'm hard of listening but this thing is quiet and that's with it strung out on the hardwood floor.
